That is all the time left for Murenga's campaign. 

We are less than £5000/$8000 away from breaking the record. It is absolutely essential that we share the campaign with absolutely everyone we can. If anyone who has been thinking about upgrading - no time to waste! The record is just along the horizon...

So why do we care so much about this record? It's because it's a sign that not only are queer-forward stories an essential part of what we consider 'African storytelling' as a modern collective of ideas, but also because records like this help tell investors and production houses that these stories and commmunities are worth investing in, and worth adapting, and worth helping reach wider and wider audiences. Your pledge isn't just to help Murenga as a comic book, it helps Murenga as a living, growing IP that might one day expand beyond our wildest dreams. Sounds pretty cool when you think about it like that!

We've got two updates for you!

On the Variant Cover: we are working on the finishing touches and hope to share it with you this week! It looks great! Also, we're pretty close to $50,000, which will unlock our next stretch goal!

A lot of people have been requesting a Donation add-on which is honestly amazing to see. It's so great that so many of you want to make a difference to the lives of young people in Africa, and we hear you. We’ve looked at the numbers and decided to include a Donation add-on as part of the post-campaign survey! You will be able to donate a softcover copy of Murenga to donate for $35 - with shipping included.

We've had a couple questions about the companion book, so wanted to go into a little more detail on that, too! As to exactly what it is, the companion book is meant to be a way for the creative team to explore more of the characters, stories and world of Murenga. The book is still being worked on, so we're not certain how long it will be or what the exact form of its content will look like, however it's something that the team are very excited about, and we expect it to be full of surprises, goodies and easter eggs!

Well this is lovely. 

$40,000 for a first-of-its-kind queer African comic campaign. We're blown away - and we're only half-way done! At 50k we unlock tote bags!

Also, happy pride month! We actually booked in the dates for this project before any of us realised it would cross over with Pride, so that's quite the happy coincidence!

So, news! Other than the big funding milestones, what's happening behind the scenes? WELL:

• The colours are going really well, we've not got a percentage but largely completed.
•  We are looking into making a donation add-on available for all backers where you will be able to donate a copy of Murenga to a school or library in Africa. 
•  VARIANT COVER! We *should* be showing this to you all in the final week of the campaign, so if you were thinking about the Variant Foil Softcover of MURENGA then that will be the time to upgrade your pledge! Keep your eyes peeled for new emails from us!
